Meyers, Harrison & Pia, LLC's featured article as seen in the November 2006 issue of Forbes Magazine.

Kenneth J. Pia, Jr., CPA, ABV, ASA, CBA spoke on the topic Using an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) as a Privately-Held Company Liquidity and Exit Strategy. Three presentations were given to individual chapters of the Connecticut Society of CPA's. The presentations focused on the use of significant tax benefits provided by an ESOP to achieve the liquidity and business succession goals of the owner of a closely held company. Ken frequently advises on the subject to owners of companies who are interested in providing their employees with a stake in the future of the company while planning for the next phase of their lives.

Mark I. Harrison, CPA, ABV, Esq. was a speaker at the American Bar Association's National Family Law Conference in Washington D.C., on the topic of Executive Compensation: Is It Income or Is It Property?  He also presented at the National Conference on Divorce in Las Vegas, NV, along with Miriam Mason, Esq., on the subject Double Dipping.  Both speaking engagements were presented in May 2006.

On September 11, 2006, Meyers, Harrison & Pia, LLC was the grand sponsor of the Hunter's Ambulance 17th Annual Golf Classic. The tournament honors the memory of William Lawton and Carol Gillooly, whose lives were lost in the line of duty. Proceeds are used to pay for EMT training so that others may learn valuable life saving skills.
